Back when the Coen brothers made films I liked, hey?
The Big Lebowski is one of my favourite films. It came out when I was working as a projectionist in a cinema, and I used to drift by and watch it whenever I was on shift, which was something I did rarely after seeing a film for the first time. I'm probably lucky that the film wasn't on for very long, otherwise I might have grown to hate it, but I lucked out. I even dug the Shawn Colvin version of Viva Las Vegas in the credits, though I've not been moved to like any of her music before or after. Still, the crowning moment really belongs to Kenny Rogers, who shows us all that if you need a man to sing a song about being high while in a dream sequence involving Saddam Hussein, bowling girls, and pornography references, then he's the man.
