Who Says Australia Ain't International?

The Aurealis Awards are considered the third stupidest in the hierarchy of stupid in speculative fiction awards. It's currently ranked beneath the Campbell and the Nebulas, which are, y'know, tough competition.

Stupider than the Hugos, though.

I've always trusted Nebulas more than Hugos as a recommendation for reading, and Aurealis awards more than Ditmars. And surely Tin Ducks rank somewhere below any of those?

i don't use any of those awards for recommended reading, myself. in fact, abotut he only award that might motivate me is the nobel, just because they pick from round the world, and often it's from a culture i've never read.

and everyone knows the tin ducks aren't an award :)

Nobels are too political. Manning-Booker prize winners, otoh, tend to be very good.

every award is political. the nobels are just more interesting choices with them, i find.

For reading recommendations, I reckon people are better off looking at the Locus list, a lot more votes there presumably, the ones I have browsed seem to make more sense.

And you haven't got one? Is that the problem?
