Kaaron Warren

Kaaron Warren (kaaronwarren) now has a blog. Friend it, bookmark it, whatever.

Kaaron is the author of the The Grinding House, a collection of dark fantasy slash horror, which is entirely worth reading. It even has little afterward story notes that I convinced suggested Kaaron to go with, because, really, I love those little personal touches in a collection. It saddens me when they're not there. Below is the cover, but the colours look better in the flesh, I reckon:

You know, I just came across an interview I did with Kaaron last year. It really surprises me when I come across anything from the Snapshot. Fuck that was a lot of insanity. Anyone checked to see how things turned out?

It's kinda strange to see it, a year later. Makes me think of doing another one.

For about five seconds.

what about when the author writes: "i've written 465 stories and been published here, there and everywhere and won 45 awards"?

Okay admittedly in the case above that's impressive but the rest of the time I'm like, "So? I still thought your story was shit, dude".

i'm not sure what you mean there. so what if they write it? it's boring :)

it's boring and it doesn't tell you anything and those are most often the blurbs at the end of stories in anthols

those are author bios, dear :)

what we're talking about is sort of the notes that authors put after stories in collections. they were in kaaron's book and simon brown's TROY, for example.

shit. that's what I've been doing. trying to build up this rep that I'm more than I'm not, and even less than I am, so that maybe someone will be fooled by all that and option a whole bunch of my stories for film. Cos that's likely to happen, right?

i dunno dude, I really don't. You'd be surprised the crackpots I have to deal with who wanna be big name writers.
