A World Cup Post

Last night I ended up watching the Australia vs Japan game in the World Cup. I'm not a soccer (football, whatever) fan, and I've never watched the World Cup in the years before, but since I was up for entirely different and much more important reasons, I thought I'd check it out. Anyhow, apparently Australia haven't played in the World Cup for something like thirty two years, and haven't scored a goal, ever, if I'm to believe the commercials and what commentators say (which I don't--I'm sure they have no, it's true), so I was ready for Japan to kick Australia across the field like dead meat.

Well, that didn't happen. Australia dominated ball possession through the game, and though their three goals came in the final fifteen minutes, they had pretty much worn down Japan through the match and if not for a dubious goal by Japan twenty minutes in, you would have to say that Australia looked to be aggressively in control for most of it. So Australia won a match, I saw it, and apparently they play Brazil next, who are the soccer Gods of the World, if you are to believe the commercials and the hushed, in awe way in which commentators say, "Brazil."

Yes, I have the flu, what of it?

What do you mean the medicine cabinet is empty? I have no idea about that. Go away. I won't answer any questions. I am not your doctor.

In other news, my copy of Agog Ripping Reads arrived this morning, and it's a sweet looking paperback. I imagine that sooner or later you'll be able to buy it, unless you were at Conflux this weekend, and snagged yourself a copy then.
