I dropped the books off, for the thesis had become a book now. Four, in fact. I was going to take a photo and bore everyone, but the batteries died in my digital camera, and I didn't have any spare. So you're spared. Back in the Graduate Office, I signed a few forms, was told congratulations and then given a glass paperweight. I looked at it. I thought, Is this meant to be symbolic of anything? Then I shrugged, tossed it in my bag, walked back up to the English Faculty, cleaned out my office, and came home to begin my unemployment.
