The Science Fiction is Dead T-Shirt.

A few weeks ago, I decided what the world really needed was another vaguely witty shirt that none but myself would wear. Perhaps not even that. I'm not real big on logos, after all. Still: what I was really hoping for was that someone else would design it, spare me the work, and deal with all the issues surrounding it, because I'm lazy. But that didn't happen.

So, oddly and amusing enough, I made it myself.

As I write, science fiction people are lining up all over the world to see Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the end of what is the largest science fiction thing ever. At the end of the two and a half hours, some will cry, some will curse, and a bunch will buy tickets again. That's the world for you. Way I figure, even if you like the films or hate the films or just don't really give a shit either way, this shirt is for you. Hell, maybe you never recovered after you found out that Isaac Asimov died of AIDS. And even if that's not the case, what do I care? I just made a logo and whacked it into the cafepress site and suddenly it's all over t-shirts and mugs and bags.

You want one, go here.

It's available as a bib and as a dog t-shirt.

Reasons 4338 and 4339 why I love you.

what really freaks me out is the dog shirt is made in the US, but the bib isn't...

I like the falling rocket logo.
May. 18th, 2005 09:59 pm (UTC)
thank you. it came to me in a dream, and i forgot it in another dream...
May. 18th, 2005 02:55 pm (UTC)
not that i'm being a cynic or anything, but how much of a cut do you get from the sales?

May. 18th, 2005 09:47 pm (UTC)
i've no real idea. there's an option to raise the mark up on the stuff you sell, but i just left it at the default setting, so whatever that is. i'll have look round in a bit, but lets be honest, i'm not *expecting* anyone will buy one.
May. 18th, 2005 10:12 pm (UTC)
actually, since i left it at the base price, i don't make any. is all good.
May. 18th, 2005 02:56 pm (UTC)
I'd actually consider ordering one of the black caps; it looks in the picture like the red rocket is sort of cut off at the bottom of the emblem when on the hat, that's the only thing keeping me from whipping out my credit card.

I'll probably come back and get a tee shirt at some point. I rather like the logo and am annoyed by smug science fiction writers (imagine that, smug genre writers...)
May. 18th, 2005 09:53 pm (UTC)
i'll have a look at the hat in a sec. if the rockets cut off, i'll move it up a bit. it's not difficult. (and i plan to fix it for badges. they were pretty messed up last night.)

it's really the logo that keeps giving i think. good for so many moments.

Order placed. I will soon be the proud proclaimer of science fiction's mortality to all who care.
May. 20th, 2005 01:39 am (UTC)
cooool :)

i can't believe the enjoyment i'm getting out of the fact that people are buying this stuff. it's like when i first sold fiction.
May. 20th, 2005 03:00 pm (UTC)
For no good reason, no good reason at all, I feel inclined to take a picture of myself wearing it once I receive it. Because I like to smear my ugly mug wherever and whenever I can. It's part of my ploy to take over the world one repulsed girl at a time. Mwahaha.
May. 21st, 2005 05:39 am (UTC)
i so wanna see. be sure to show when you do it.
May. 18th, 2005 03:31 pm (UTC)
I like the font size.
May. 18th, 2005 09:58 pm (UTC)
thanks. i was worried that it would be a bit small, but i felt that was needed, i did.
May. 18th, 2005 03:55 pm (UTC)

That's _fantastic._ I didn't expect to want one, but oh, I do.

::sits on hands::

::and credit card::
May. 18th, 2005 10:15 pm (UTC)
heheh. go on. you know you want it... think of the children. won't you help the children?

(and thanks for the nice words)
May. 19th, 2005 04:18 am (UTC)
I caved. Where's the sheepish smiley when I need him?
May. 19th, 2005 04:26 am (UTC)

you're the first (and possibly the only) person to buy one. how cool is that? this is better than selling fiction.
May. 26th, 2005 04:50 am (UTC)
Shirt arrived! Is awesome. Family concurs. Will wear to Wiscon and spread the awesome. Meme shirt!
May. 26th, 2005 12:25 pm (UTC)
cooooooool :)

i'm glad it looks good, too. i hope it holds up.
May. 18th, 2005 04:40 pm (UTC)
I'm going to have to get a couple bibs, I think.
May. 18th, 2005 10:17 pm (UTC)
that's right, think of the children.
May. 18th, 2005 11:24 pm (UTC)
Also, the position of the rocket on the Jr. Hoodie makes me laugh. :-D
May. 18th, 2005 11:32 pm (UTC)
the thong makes me laugh the most.
May. 18th, 2005 11:34 pm (UTC)
Maybe make the rocket bigger and move it down a touch more... hee!
May. 18th, 2005 11:46 pm (UTC)
the fact that it's tiny and nowhere near the right place is what makes it funny.
May. 18th, 2005 11:33 pm (UTC)
I think I'd love it more if it said "and all I got was this lousy rocketship" on the back.
May. 18th, 2005 11:45 pm (UTC)
i can do that for you if you want.
