Arthur Miller.

I thought Arthur Miller was already dead. You know, I just can't keep up with these American literary icons. Next someone will be telling me Norman Mailer is still important. Though I tell you what, I didn't know that Miller was married to Marilyn Monroe at one stage.

I just trivialised his whole body of work right there, didn't I?

I wouldn't go so far as to say what Morman Mailer writes *right now* is important, but in his past he produced some fine works of American post-war fiction. I would say his best works are "The Naked and the Dead", "The Armies of the Night", "The Executioners Song", "The Deer Park", and "Marilyn". I think he was a great writer. He must be 80+ by now.

You didn't know Arthur Miller was married to Marilyn? Oh yeh, they were besotted with each other. Arthur Miller also wrote her last film, "The Misfits".

honestly, miller has never been of great interest to me, though i did like monroe's final film, THE MISFITS. guess i just never picked up on the link. happens. i'm not too fussed.

i've liked some of mailer. he has had his moments. i just felt like hassle two american literary icons in one post ;)
