Embrace the Uncool

I am listening to Metallica's black album (which is self titled, I believe). It's been a while and though I've no real use for Metallica after this album, I had an urge to hear it. The retro feel of the week, or some shit. Anyhow, for some unknown reason, I ended up on youtube and found all these videos that people had taken of themselves playing Guitar Hero 2 with Metallica songs. Whenever I think of Guitar Hero lately, I think of this episode in South Park, where Stan's Dad, Randy, finds the boys playing the game, and thinks he can jam with them, so he breaks out his guitar and amp and begins to play. The kids stop and ask him what he's doing, and he says, "I can play these tunes for real--you want, I can teach you," or something like that, and the kids respond by telling him how lame he is and how he doesn't get it. It's a really neat episode, but it's also funny cause it's true: I'm old enough now that if I was to spend time and money learning this game, I'd just rather go and learn how to play the fucking guitar and do it myself, and then get told by kids everywhere what a loser I am.

Good times, people, good times.
