The above is Nick Mamatas' (nihilistic_kid) new book, Under My Roof. It sounds pretty cool, and when Amazon begins to stock it, I'll be finding myself a copy.

I read Mamatas' previous novel, Move Under Ground a few years back when it first came out. It's a Lovecraft meets Jack Kerouac beat novel about the end of the world, or however you like to sell these things. I liked it, but when I finished it, it didn't really feel moved to say a whole lot about it. Sometimes that kind of happens. But there's been this strange thing about me and that book, cause the further I get away from it, the more I do dig it. Every now and then I even find myself giving it the old world of mouth sell to someone that I'm talking to (usually about Lovecraft, who I never liked, or Kerouac, who I liked as a spoken word performer, but On the Road kinda bored me).

It's not often that happens. Usually first impressions stick with me.

Mamatas is interviewed here at Bookslut, and he talks about both Move Under Ground and Under My Roof. Worth the clicks.

Aurealis Awards, Part Two.

Today, it's science fiction.

Also, there's some content this time. Fiction gets discussed. Rejoice.
