December 2nd, 2004

one year.

today, i received a letter informing me that that the hecs exemption scholarship runs out in a year. it's a scholarship that everyone (well, i assume everyone, cause i have one) gets under a government research training (rts) scheme, and has basically meant that my poor self has been able to do a doctorate thesis that i otherwise could not afford.

but now, there is one year left.

two thousand and five: the year of the thesis.

it also means that the year is going to be soup and bones, economically speaking. just lovely. i'd gotten to use living in a soup and bones and bread world. one of the scholarships that give me money would've just been lovely, y'know.

Sub-Urban Poems, Lynda Hawryluk.

Lynda Hawryluk, who I met tutoring the same course as me this semester, and who is a fine poet and person*, is having a launch for her collection, Sub-Urban Poems on Saturday.

It's at Gleebooks at five thirty.

I'll be there, and if you can, so should you.

* Though, y'know, totally wrong about Batman's cape and its function.
