question: if i want to look at how sydney is represented in a variety of things, why am i reading the things i am?
shouldn't i read these after having a strong log of stuff about sydney?
i think i've just hit a wall. here is the comment that is disturbing me: 'you are conceptualising ;the city', 'the people'... a whole range of central notions--in ways that will constitute disconcertingly blunt instruments as youattempt to produce a convincing and enlightening account of something as pluralistic, heteregeneous, complex and protean as a city. you can't do brain surgery with hedge clippers.'
yes, this is a problem. party due to the fact that he is right. i have been just reading books on 'city' theory, but nothing on sydney, or very little. so... so this is a problem, i believe. yes? yes. a problem.
