Today's Quote.

it arrived in my email, and it said:

"I say quite deliberately that the Christian religion, as organised in its Churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world.

Bertrand Russell
--Why I Am Not A Christian."

nothing like down right hostility to make you smile, huh?

While I tend to agree with his general sentiment, I have to question what he actually means by "moral progress". That would tend to imply that he believes in some sort of universal morality, which is, in my opinion, a substantial part of what's wrong with the Christian church and organized religion in general.

well, yes, making such blanket statements about morality helps no one, really, and while i'm not a fan of the church it seems rather simple to condemn all church folk, and do i do agree with the moral concern.

but, since i don't know what betrand's moral concerns are, i can't say if they're a good thing or not. but the comment made me smile, and sometimes, downright hostility does that.
