The Spec Fic Flow Charge

N. sent me a link to this graphic about science fiction movements today and it's utterly brilliant:

The full thing is huge, and details the historical formation of the speculative fiction genre, drawing from authors such as Mark Twain, T.H. White, and films like Star Wars and others. As always, there are quibbles (where is Fritz Leiber in swords and sorcery?), but objects like this are great for what is and is not included, and to ignore that is to ignore part of the beauty that Ward Shelley created.

Link.

Is that the right link? It shows the same image (or section of image) that you have above, which I suspect is not the full thing?

lol. it's no different than any other genre, man. that's the important thing to remember: every genre, every artform, has its history, a huge weight of it that it does you know harm to know.

I'm impressed Karel Capek squeezed in just below the end of the H.G. Wells orange streak.

it's a pretty cool chart, man. a lot of work went into it--it'd be cool if you could buy it as a huge work of art.
