Listening to Low's Drums and Guns. It's mellow, real mellow--bordering on that ambient distorted line Radiohead has, but with a stripped back minimalism. I dig it.

Sure looks like he's struggling at the end of this video, though, doesn't he?

I think he was dangerously close there. But, then, if I drank that much milk that quickly I'd be fit to puke, too.

This is a wee bit off topic, but do you know of Early Day Miners? If you're enjoying Low, I think it's entirely possible you'd love EDM as well. It's mostly one guy with a revolving supporting cast. I've only heard their/his latest two albums, but the second most recent, ALL HARM ENDS HERE, is particularly special, and fits a bit into the same sort of mold. Maybe it's mostly the vocal delivery, but there's definitely a shared melancholic, ambient personality to it, too. This is only a handmade video someone made for it, but you get the idea. The song's from ALL HARM...

That said, yeah, the cake, too, but I was surprised how quickly he seemed to be in over his head.

nah, i haven't heard of early miners. that's not a bad song, though not grabbing me right at the offset. i'll give it a spin again in a few hours.

Oh my dear merciful stars and bloody garters...

WHY DIDN'T I MAKE THAT VIDEO FIRST.

Now I really want to make my own. I want to be cake-girl to his cake-guy.

I love Low with a love that borders on owrrisome.

shouldn't be too hard, i would think. find two people to clap in the background and some milk and cake and you're there :)

The uniforms, man, didn't you notice the uniforms?

of course i noticed the uniform. the presence of the military is having your cake and eating it--a kind of subtle anti war message, really.

It's a cool album. I liked the last album, The Great Destroyer, too.

Trying to remember if I posted this clip on my LJ yet or not...

I was blown away by this clip. And I thought the song was so incredible I put it on my special private "DrJon Soundtrack" compilation for last year.

That, as Wayne would say, is Zang!
