In Rainbows

Okay, so here, I'll say it: the new Radiohead is cool.

How cool? Well, that remains to be seen, but it feels a lot better than the previous couple of albums. Should this prove to be wrong--as sometimes it does--I know one thing at least: it's totally worth the two pounds fifty I paid for it.

wait just saw your random bit: 2 pounds fiddy...

why did you pay for it?

cause i'm more than willing to pay two pounds fiddy for tunes and i figure the cash goes directly to the artist.

I bought it for zero pounds, just to see if it would work... I didn't get anything... did they send you an email or something when it came out?

i just did it then. they give you a link you can download it from straight away. it was pretty easy, to be honest.

I did the preorder thing so maybe that's why... but hey, I can always do it again. Maybe even swing 'em a coupla bucks this time!

i got no problem swinging them a couple of bucks. technically, they're making more out of me than they would have if i'd bought the album in a store from a label...

it's an interesting idea. I paid nothing because I was interested to find out how it would make me feel, and I actually did feel a bit bad, and thought that giving them a couple of bucks would have added more happiness to the experience.

Which maybe is the point, I dunno...

perhaps. i thought about doing the free thing, but then i thought: no, i'd rather support the artist, and their move away from big labels.

i doubt anyone in radiohead really needs my money, but still.

I'm really liking it too. It's definitely the best music I've ever heard after handing some change to a gang of scruffy buskers.

I paid exactly the same! It is indeed good, yes. Far more OK Computer than Kid A, which should have been called Kid C-, I guess.

Little hints of The Eraser, too?

you know, i do think it's quite similar to the eraser, in many ways. moreso than the other albums.

i've found a lot of longevity to the eraser, oddly.

It makes me think "fuzzy ambient electro-grundge."

This is such a neat little album. Still figuring out the lyrics, but by Jove, the songs are solid all across the board, and seem much less depressing and sad than Hail to the Thief.

And this is only half the album? Can't wait for the other 8 tracks next year.

A special "discbox", available for pre-order through inrainbows.com, will be dispatched on or before 3 December 2007. It will contain the physical album on two CDs and two 12" heavyweight vinyl records with made-to-order artwork and lyric booklets. The CDs will include a second enhanced CD which contains 8 additional tracks, as well as digital photos and artwork. The overall set will be packaged in a hardcover book and slipcase. The discbox, priced at £40 (about $80 U.S.), also includes the MP3 download.

i dunno. remember how they said they had another album with KID A? sure, KID A was super cool, but what was AMNESIAC? better title, shitter album :)

And then we got Hail to the Thief, which was a further spiral down into ... someplace full of distortion.

i think i liked HAIL TO THE THIEF more than i did AMNESIAC, but i must admit, i didn't think much of either of them.

Ditto. Am in agreement with your feelings on the matter.

IR seems much more...approachable, I guess? Don't know. It's pleasing that IR is so hard to describe.

I'm not sure that's so odd. I've found the same thing! It has an odd haunting feel that just won't quit.. and Harrowdown Hill is a fantastic song. Read up on the background, if you haven't already... watch the Robin Cook resignation speech.

heh. i could say i will look it up, and have every intention to do so, but likely, i probably forget it in five minutes. ah well. i am listening to the eraser now, actually.

If you like that, just watch part two or three. Great moment of British politics... they aren't abundant these days.

Poor guy died soon after, of a heart attack.
