Awake Now.

i learnt something last night: when a huntsman spider is crawling up your legs, aiming for your crotch, you'll wake up with surprising speed, and catch the offending spider in one movement, crushing it in your hand...

or so you'll think, because after dropping it to the floor you will hear the scurry of spider legs over paper, and then lie awake for another hour feeling all sorts of things crawl over you.

not one of them will be real.

but that huntsman, huge and a mix of hairy grey and brown... that was.

that is why i left australia.

you can feel things on your legs for hours. the tiny little hairs on your legs - they say that they are vestigial and mostly for heat purposes. but they have never met insects. the hairs are to be bent by things like spiders so that the electrical impulse runs to the lymbic system in your brain and the shivers travel back down.

arachnaphobics dont sleep without blankets.
