I don't mind. My name, although common, doesn't socially pigeonhole me, which is nice - apparently Levitt wrote something interesting about names as dynamic class markers in Freakonomics, I should probably read that.

It is mildly irritating that there will probably always be a person with my name more famous than me. I'll never be the "owner" of the name.

I could murder them in the name of Ben Peek, then we'd both be making our mark!

I wonder if there's a European agency that collects such data. There's only one of me (my name) on google. I suspect that the combination of my first and last names is fairly rare, and also more likely to occur in a former British colony with many people of mixed heritage, like here or the US.

At least 8 of me last time I checked (quite some time ago, because it takes so long to go through all the hits).

i guess it's too late to change your name to something more google friendly?

Well, about half the first page on Google, including the first hit, is really me, so it's not that bad. Anyway, I kind of like the semi-anonymity of having so many people with my name on the 'net: if a hit relates to a side of me that the searcher doesn't know about, they're likely to assume it's not actually me.

i'm almost at the point where the top 40 google hits are ALL ME ;-)

(which has its good points and bad points - semi-anonymity would be good sometimes...)

I have 0 people to kill. I once heard of an online game character that had my name tho... I'll have to go build up my skill, weaponry and gold and go a-hunting for that little character. Oh and someone's already taken MacDibble at myspace. I can't imagine why!

Is there a LJ/myspace war going on? And where does Blogger fit in since they have no friends?

I get zero for my full first name, zero for my surname (which is a lie - I know I have relatives in New Orleans)... if I shorten my first name there are hundreds of thousands!

Surprisingly (haha) no one has my complete name, it says no one has my first name (I know that's not true because there are a generation of teens cropping up with my name) and 2,370 have the exact spelling of my last name. And I think I know them all...
