Just Misspent Youth

Just Misspent Youth - Somewhere in the five hour drive from Port Macquarie to Sydney, I realised that I knew all the words to Guns N Roses' Appetite for Destruction album. I used to own the t-shirt.

i love the robot rape art. i know it shouldn't, it being all robot rape (though the robot is just about to be eaten), but i do. i love the cover with the skulls, as well.

i never dug slayer a whole heap, but maybe i need to buy some old anthrax. i dug them a lot.

you're on your own with french hip hop, tho.

anthrax did an album called attack of the killer bs, or something like that, which was a mix of hip hop and metal (and, though i don't have it any more, i suspect b side releases) which just lost me big time when i was listening tot hem. i never went back to check them out after it--and metallica never regained me after the self titled/black album, either...

what is your usual source for musique, btw?

nah, man, those mashes of hip hop and guitar bands really irritated me. especially that run DMC and aerosmith track. i didn't mind guitar driven bands that used hip hop, though in anthrax's case, that album was so not it.

You know, that thing brought aerosmith back to life. They hadn't had a hit in forever and then Run DMC puts them in a video and we get Janie's Got A Gun.

You know, they should really pay for that...

I am SO MUCH OLDER than you. Was in COLLEGE when that came out. :D

It's not so bad. But then you just get in the groove of the 30s and you're staring down the face of 40. Me being almost nine years older than you and all, I can always give you the heads-up on any given decade.

I remember MC Solaar - he did "A chacun son paradis". That was actually a minor JJJ hit about ten years ago.

Ack! Mon du! Check out 'Laurel Canyon' - an excellent film by Lisa Chodolenko, for Serge and Brigitte Bardot singing Bonnie and Clyde as Kate Beckinsdale does a little strip tease...

Too cool.

Mhm, and did you just realize this out of the blue, as if the cable lines reminded you in a communicative buzz, or were you, in fact, voluntarily listening to this album during your road trip?

oh, i assure you, it was voluntary. i bought the album for ten bucks the day before we left. it was a retro road trip album moment.
