And so, that would be me, there, having sold a story to Cat Sparks for the next Agog. It's called 'The Souls of Dead Soldiers are for Blackbirds, Not Little Boys'.

As titles go, it's one of my favourites. It's rather shocking that I can have a story that is actually about all those things, in fact. The collection is going to be released at Conflux, which is in June, so there won't be much of a wait for this. I won't be at the launch, but what's shocking about that? For those of you overseas, Prime Books will be releasing an edition in the States, so you'll all be able to pick up a copy. For I know you will want one.

(Prime will also be releasing the previous volumes.)

That isn't the cover, by the by, but rather a mock cover. But who doesn't like a bit of an image up there?

Lastly, J from Galaxy Bookstore, has just written to let me know that you can get copies of the Year's Best Australian Science Fiction and Fantasy, 2006, from Galaxy. Copies in store. Go and get yourself some mail.

I remain, as ever, your Pimp Master (tm).

this one is set on the other side of the world. i'm a bit surprised i had another story in it, myself. still, it's all good. i'm digging it.

what's this red sun world of yours? is it the fantasy stuff you were doing before?

nah, it's new. i sold a novelette called 'under the red sun' to fantasy magazine earlier this year which is in the same world and i think the next novel is going to be set in it. a lot of people will be surprised--it's totally different for me. a kind of full on new weird, i guess, with a red sky, men made from brass, people who get tattooed so god can judge them, others with soul catchers around their necks, and more who live underground beneath stones that let the red sun's light into them through the roof of the world.

like i said, it's different for me. no real world connection stuff. just letting the weird shit out for a run, doosing it up with style and letting it go.

Congrats. I remember you mentioning at one point you were writing a piece for this collection: it's good to see you followed through on that idea.

yeah, i did. the story has nothing to do with what i originally planned, though. which might be good, since that idea sucked ;)
