Okay.

So, originally, this was meant to be called 'The 2005 Soundtrack Meme'. I got it off John Au-Yeung, though he didn't mean it as a meme. The idea, basically, was to assemble a soundtrack of your life/the world around you in 2005. Capture the highs, the lows, the catchy little jingles, that sort of stuff. And this is what I did, for about five seconds, and then I got caught up in the way the words of songs fell together, and started adding bits and pieces here and there. Which is kind of what I do, I guess. Anyhow: the end product is that I came up with something that's not me, but which, because of the political nature of the Herd tracks framing it, I'm going to slap a title on and call it some kind of found poem. A found poem made from my ipod.

you always seem to have songs listed I have never heard of...this is a good thing because sometimes I seek them out and have a listen - my fave for the year (of music I found trying to keep up with your blog's soundtrack) was Bettye Lavette.

This is a good meme; I'll probably steal it for myself ;-)

i've completely altered the meme now :)

but maybe i'll burn you a copy of the tracks and send them up. i don't have a burner, so it involves me going to a friends place, loading up the tracks, buying a cd... um... you know, all the music here, quite good. yes :)

i'm glad you like the lavette album. it was pretty cool, i thought.

I haven't heard of any of these, but somehow some of the band names and music titles resonate with me so, like lyndahawryluk, I'll seek out some of them and check them out.

if i had a burner, i'd just make a few copies and send it round. my own little homemade soundtrack. heh.

the bands are cool. some of the albums that the songs come off aren't very strong--the mountain goats song, for example, is excellent, but it's the definate high point on the album, and i find much of it uneven. all are pretty cool, though.
