It's My Birthday

So, come and tell me the good things going on in your life today. Big or small, I want to know.

Someone who I was thought was dead or in jail is neither.

And he called ME, instead of my having to track him down.
Oct. 11th, 2005 11:07 pm (UTC)
now that's cool. had he been in jail (or dead)?

Happy birthday, Ben!

As for the good things--well, I'm still breathing and I can wipe my own ass and you know, everything else is just whipped cream. ;-)
Oct. 11th, 2005 11:41 pm (UTC)
but it's the whipped cream i want to know :) some tiny small, cool thing must've happened to you today. come and share it.

(and thanks)

Hey, why wasn't I invited to the party?

because there isn't one :) i'm pretty hard to force into anything for my b-day. though i'm heading into the noodle thing in hyde park tonight with some of my friends, which must be a sign of something. you're welcome to meet us up there, though i've no idea about time or not. toss me an email if you're interested and i'll toss a phone number for you.

Well a bunch of girls who I thought were friends turned out not to be friends, this is a GOOD thing because whatever karmic forces exist did my spring cleaning for me and thus made room for better people in my life. :)

though it sounds like a painful good thing.

Well, it's from yesterday rather than today, because, give me a break! I just woke up! I guess my cereal was okay but...

anyway, yesterday i bought a guillotine and constructed my first test home made potato monkey... plus it will come in handy when the revolution comes!

anyway, yesterday i bought a guillotine and constructed my first test home made potato monkey... plus it will come in handy when the revolution comes!

did the potato monkey look nice?

and there is nothing like the chopping of peoples heads off. or the killing of small animals. everyone should have a guillotine, i think.

(and thanks for the b-day wishes)
Oct. 12th, 2005 12:15 am (UTC)
oh, and happy birthday:)

Sometimes, ending a relationship is the best thing that can happen to you.

I saw the swimming fly before taking a gulp.

Happy birthday!

Sometimes, ending a relationship is the best thing that can happen to you.

that is entirely true. it's better to be honest bout something than to live the lie, as they say. (though living that lie is pretty sweet upon occasion.)

I saw the swimming fly before taking a gulp.

and this is even more important :)

thanks for the b-day wishes.

Happy birthday!

Today I got my first call about my support group, and enjoyed my math class. Yes, I am a sick woman, thanks for noticing.

Yes, I am a sick woman, thanks for noticing.

but it's why we love you, dear :)

thanks for the hugs and wishes. *hugs* back.

I now own a bottle of Australian wine made by The Little Penguin bottling company.

It has a picture of a little penguin.

This utterly delights me.

Also, they have restored root beer to the vending machines at the Oceanographic Center, which brings a certain completin to my life.

Happy birthday to you!

Good things for me today?
- the cats looked very blissful asleep on the bed this morning
- the rain made pleasing patterns on my windscreen as I drove to work
- there were good snacks at morning tea today.
Oct. 12th, 2005 03:58 am (UTC)
thank you for the wishes.

rain and snacks are always good, though i'm not so sure about cats. but who doesn' t love the shape of rain as it falls.
Oct. 12th, 2005 03:38 am (UTC)
It is? Well, happy birthday! I have nothing good to report -- I'm heartbroken and it won't stop raining -- so you'll have to enjoy your birthday non-vicariously.
Oct. 12th, 2005 04:00 am (UTC)

ah, nick my man, that is a shame. but lots of other people are having nice moments, so maybe you should steal theirs? i'm currently living through their pleasure, after all.

Happy Birthday!

Good things; my agent said nice things about my newest manuscript. Like, "I'm-positive-I-can-sell-this" sort of things. So that's good.

Also, a caffeine/Midol/Cobb salad mix made my headache go away.
Oct. 12th, 2005 02:27 pm (UTC)
selling manuscript statements from the agent is good. all support in that, yes.

i don't think i want to know what the caffeine/midol/cobb mix is :)

yoyo biscuit?
Oct. 12th, 2005 08:02 am (UTC)
happy birthday!

what's good is the new wallace and gromit movie, and eating too much strawberry frozen yoghurt. i hope that when they pump my stomach i can say that bit was good as well...

Oct. 12th, 2005 02:28 pm (UTC)
take pictures of the stomach pumping, that way you can share the joy :)

My good news is I've finished two of my exams, with five to go. And I finished at 1:30 today. =)

I have been basically content for going on a month.

Which shouldn't be a big deal, but is, for me. Working up to where it's not.

Happy birthday!

Oct. 12th, 2005 02:31 pm (UTC)
being content sounds good. i hope to make it there myself some time before the twenty second century :)
Oct. 12th, 2005 11:46 am (UTC)
Happy birthday!

Today I received two useful letters in the mail (which is two more than usual), I got out of the end of a tedious meeting because the fire alarm went off, which also allowed me to go up to town and spend money on unnecessary (but v. shiny) art supplies. I also bought a danish, which I'm just about to eat...

I also just received remarkably good feedback for the lecturing I did at the start of the year - particularly good given that I hated doing it and really didn't want to be there...
Oct. 12th, 2005 02:32 pm (UTC)
man, it sounds like you had an excellent day. totally better than any i might have before the twenty second century.

(that's my running gag now.)
Oct. 12th, 2005 01:16 pm (UTC)
I taught students how to recognize fallacious arguments using many examples from the current Australian and US governments and the religious right. It was awesome.
Oct. 12th, 2005 02:32 pm (UTC)
it is the work of good, yes :)
Oct. 12th, 2005 01:18 pm (UTC)
Damn time zones...
I thought, being an early riser, that I would be one of the early birds to wish you a Happy Birthday, and instead I am reminded that those of you on the bottom of the planet get up earlier than we do. Curses!

Okay, good things...

I bought ten pairs of casual slacks yesterday at TJ Maxx for only $10 a pair, meaning I have a whole new winter wardrobe now for work. It pleases me mightily to purchase quality work clothing for so little money.

Oh, and I have the next two days off, effectively, because I'm in training, and short of laying on the couch watching TV, you couldn't ask for an easier couple of days.

Re: Damn time zones...
ha ha! defeated by timezones!

well, this is the ass end of the world, man. we always come first, just as when you jump down a hole.

days off a nice.
Oct. 12th, 2005 01:49 pm (UTC)
Happy birthday to you!

Good things:

1) We have our tickets to Aus for November. We'll be there for 2 weeks enjoying the sunshine
2) Mini-Mr-Tanuja (MMT) ate quiche and ice cream for the first time at nursery. (When we first came back to the UK, he went on hunger strike and for a period of a month, all he ate were yoghurts)
3) It's Mr Tanuja's birthday on Friday, making both of you Libras. He's considerably older than you, though.

Hope you got lots of good things for your birthday.
Oct. 12th, 2005 02:37 pm (UTC)
nah, i don't really go in for things on my b-day. i don't go in for it much at all, really. i got two cards--one of those from my mum, and a friend of mine gave me some old, illegally translated haruki murakami. that was it, really, but i got no regrets. materials don't much interest me when i've got my friends instead.
Oct. 12th, 2005 06:05 pm (UTC)
Happy Birthday!
Oct. 12th, 2005 10:52 pm (UTC)
thank you.

Today I swam in a warm ocean. I swam out so far that when I floated all I could see over my forehead was the clouds. Looking out over my feet the horozin. To the right rolling hills and pink, pink, clouds. It was dusk and darkness was about to collapse the sky. The moon was already glowing a silver ring around itself. I was talking to spirit. (If you hold that nature is the language of spirit, and I do).

Not far from Bunaberg actually. I am about to watch two people I love get married. Tomorrow. This should compound my joy. Yet, I am polarised - wedding bells evoked fear and horror resounds all over my skin. I have little faith in this social construction. And I guess it doesn't take freud to figure out who is for it and who is against it. Just different variations of the same theme.

And oh yeah. The end of Kali Yuga is here!
Oct. 16th, 2005 04:48 am (UTC)
that's a nice entry. thanks for sharing.

i understand the marriage thing. it doesn't do anything for me, but that's life. what's the end of kali yuga?

(btw: do you have a name?)

Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Ben. You're great. I don't hate you even a little bit.

Good things? Well, let's see. I just got confirmation that The Church will release a CD of the Shriek movie music, remixing some of it and all sorts of other cool stuff, including possibly lyrics etc etc. That kinda made my month.

Have a great b-day, you sentimental lug!
