Observation #49

Yesterday, I considered becoming a lighthouse keeper until I found out it was mostly automated. Today, I just didn't ask any questions.

I didn't know it was automated until I watched the Simspons. Who said you couldn't learn things off a cartoon?

i learn from cartoons all the time.

Heh. You should read my novel Waystation -- lighthouse keepers come into the story early on, and there's a piece that goes into detail about lighthouse history (and adds some SF variations for good measure.)

There's something sad about that. Sucks the romance out of it.

i know. i figured (apart from being a cool place to live) being a lighthouse keeper would help me pick up, too. what girl could resist the lighthouse keeper, i ask?

This one wouldn't. Assuming the lighthouse keeper in question didn't have one of those big bristle beards that seems mandatory for lighthouse keepers.

no, no big beards for me. they don't suit me, what with the shaved head and all. i did once consider it, i have to be honest, but i don't have that thick wiry hide children in it kind of facial hair you need.

Which is a good thing. And why you should never trust santa.

Besides, the shaved head/huge beard is a biker look, and that just clashes with the whole lighthouse keeper thang.

i get the biker thing already. i think it's the leather jacket and docs and black.

Well, yeah, they're probably not doing anything to dissuade the idea.
Although the question is, do you have a bike? And where would you put it in a lighthouse anyway?
benpeek
Sep. 10th, 2004 06:22 am (UTC)
no, no bike. i once had my l's, but... *shrug* i could drive and i had a car that i bought for a grand. i didn't have enough for a bike. so, no bike.

That's Ms to you. And be prepared for the sorts of hits my name will attract to this site.
benpeek
Sep. 10th, 2004 06:39 am (UTC)
ms?

as for the hits, i've had them before. though yesterday someone accused me of being bitter. can you imagine. anyhow, since i spelt it right, i don't imagine anyone will arrive.

Miss makes me think 16. And I will never ever be a Mrs. Ms. Mzzz.

Bitter? Well, the automated lighthouse thing is disappointing, but not quite to that degree.

Spelling with a k makes no difference. Because people can't spell. Heh.

*snerk* Real person slash. Painful.

I had "Ian Thorpe" post spam comments on my site. From memory, he was selling anti-depressants.

I did indeed. I think it's still beta, however, so don't rely on it too heavily.
