Oscars.

last night, i tried to watch the oscars. i don't actually know why. bored? a little, yeah, but i think i got caught in the online hype where everyone was going, 'ohmygod, will lord of the rings win?' and for a moment was confused enough to think that i might actually care. twenty minutes of bill crystal and his buddies in a lackluster looking hall, where rich to very rich people slapped each other on their back and said, wow, we made so truly vacuous films there, good on us, i remembered that no, i didn't particularly care.

please, don't let me see the same thing in the livejournal oscars.

And there I was thinking it was quite good. That showed me, eh wot!

Mind you, I disappeared half an hour in to research safecracking, which might have helped.

safecracking is always useful.

But the Livejournal Oscars won't mean anything if they don't include meaningless hype!

I have to admit that I always look forward to watching the Oscars every single year, and I am always disappointed in the Oscars every single year. I love the consistency of this.

i suspect that livejournal oscars won't mean a thing because it's essentially a popularity vote, which, unlike the real oscars, is done based on the craft and skill involved in a project...

heheh. and i don't know how you manage to watch the oscars every year, but i am kind of impressed.

Popcorn, cats and a video game. With them you can survive anything.

Actually I used to watch the Oscars with my grandmother, and it is one of the few fond memories I have of this particular grandmother, so it's sort of a memorial thing. And a chance to eat popcorn.
